@Chris,

I am very exciting that WITNESS has been made collaboration with Global Voices I knew through Chinese Blogger Conference. What a small world:)

Also thanks for your explaining on the Hub website. I will use it and give more feedback to you. I like WITNESS project very much, I wish I could contribute to it in the future.

Hi Oliver,

Thanks for taking time to explore the Hub and report-back your experience - and for featuring our video advocacy guides!

Many of your feedback points are things that are in the works to remedy or enhance (good news), but others are new and we'll work to incorporate them as best we can.

The folks at Global Voices and the community play a very significant and important role with the Hub. From 2006-2007, Global Voices and WITNESS collaborated on a pilot project to monitor human rights citizen videos from around the world that Hub Manager, Sameer Padania, edited -> http://globalvoicesonline.org/-/special/human-rights-video In late 2007, we launched the Hub and the GV community has continued to exponentially enhance our work. Clearly - we should better highlight that on the site!

Filmmakers - and groups - can have their own channel to spotlight their work and connect with other folks on the Hub. We've noticed how videos that are both on YouTube and the Hub often get many, many more views on the Hub because folks come to the site that are interested in human rights. We hope that trend will continue for filmmakers that are using video to create change. I think it's a great idea to see how we can incorporate the volunteer process and ability for filmmakers that would like to donate their time to feature that opportunity on the Hub...I'll keep you posted on that.

As for the embed, you can embed via the Hub's player (the somewhat standard share icon). In addition, the player has very cool functionality that enables folks to search for videos within the player wherever it lives (i.e. your blog). Via the magnifying glass, a blogger or organization could have a permanent embed and encourage users to search for an issue, country or topic and find videos and content via their own sites. Soon, we'll expand the social bookmarking tools so our friends on Facebook and elsewhere can quickly share videos, groups and blog posts from the Hub.

Improving user experience...yep - that is a constant process and both the library and the site navigation items on the docket for enhancement...

Thanks again, Oliver - keep the feedback and ideas flowing.

All the best,
~chris and folks at WITNESS

PS: As for the url issue, a few years ago when we were looking for a url for the Hub we found most were either taken or grossly expensive (especially for a nonprofit).

Chris, thanks for your comment! In fact, I created a Human Rights group on Slideshare.net and collecting some related presentations to the group.

Hi Oliver,

Thanks for your post and mention of WITNESS and our work. The conversation that Joi noted that was started by asking: What image opened your eyes to human rights? - has been really interesting and surprising for us. I wanted to invite you to join the conversation -> http://hub.witness.org/UDHR60 (and we would always appreciate any thoughts you have on our site and efforts therein...).

Best,
~Chris Michael | WITNESS

Hi, Oliver,

You wrote "How I touched this brand?" in the text, I think you mean you came to learn about something. If that is the case, then you might use words other than "touch", as the word "touch" itself doesn't have that kind of meaning.

definition of "touch" on OneLook:
